THE WANGANUI CLUB FIRST RACE HELD. FASTEST TIME TO WELLER. The first race of the season was held by the Wanganui Harrier Club on Saturday afternoon. The Putiki-Durie Hill course of some five miles was covered at a fast pace and some interesting finishes were seen. There was a good muster of members and 51 completed the course. Conditions were good. As it was their first race several new members found the going somewhat hard, but it was to their credit that they finished the course and battled on well. In the first twelve fastest times returned no fewer, than three new runners found a place, namely D. Loveridge, D. Kiddle, and W. Hasler. Fastest trme was obtained by C. Weller, who ran exceedingly well. G. Johnston ran home half a minute later and was about u minute ahead of his brother, K. Johnston. In spite of having had nothing to guide the handicapping the official in charge of this important phase of the sport did his work well. Good service was given by the timekeepers, who were kept busily engaged. The run was held from the Wanganui Bowing Club’s sheds. Following were the actual times:— C. Weller (39min. 57sec.); G.
