SOCIAL Thorn have been many bridge parties during the past week in honour of several visitors to the district. Airs. J. Pearce, of “Caehill,” Whenuakura, entertained severa’ young people at three tables of bridge in honour of Aliss Annie Hamcrton, of Cambridge, who has been visiting her cousin, Aliss Marian Hamcrton. Misses K. Davis and S. Ennion, who have been the guests of Airs. A. H. Hodge over tho past fortnight, have been the guests of honour at several bridge parties and morning teas. They returned yesterday to Hawke’s Ray. Airs. Gillespie, who has been a Christchurch visitor to T ' t< ea, as the guest of Airs. L. Honey field, has also been the guest of honour at several bridge parties. Airs. W. Patterson was hostess at : three-table afternoon last Wednesday. Beautiful blooms of tawny chrysanthemums decorated her drawing-room. Among those present were Mesdames Simmons, Honeyfield, J. Pearce. A!eßae. Sprat‘ Un blow. Roberts, Sheild and Alisses Kelly, Les’ie and T, Gibson. Aliss Rrth Findlay entertained a number of her friends at a bridge party last Thursday afternoon. Among those present were Mrs. Still, Alisses K. Davis, S. Ennion, Davidson (2), Simmons (2), Gibbings. Mathieson, Barrow, R. Honeyfield, Roberts, Graham (2).

Airs Cecil Honeyfield was hostess nt a very happy little afternoon at her home, “Park Farm,” when she invited several of her friends to meet Airs. Gillespie, matron of Christchurch Karitane Hospital. FOOTBALL Patea seniors will be seen in action again to-day on their own ground, playing against Waimate seniors. The team will be represented by: Zimmerman; Paterson. ; C Edwards, Peterson; Gudgeon; Bourke, Robinson, Couch, Bremer, P. Crawford, McAsoy, Wills, Hambtyn. Juniors will play ag ’nst Waimate at Alanaia, while the thirds w"I play the curtain raiser to the senior match at Patea, in a match with Hawcra High School. GOLF The team to play Waverley at one o’clock to-day at Patea will be picked from the following. There will bo a general tea: Messrs Wills, Findlay. Hunger, Edwards, Rev. Father Hegarty.
