FRANCE MAKES HER REPLY? PARIS, May 19. Within the Washington 10,000-tons limitation, France has built the remarkable cruiser Algcrie, which is be ing launched at Brest to-morrow. It has one funnel, one mast, two seaplane catapults, decks specially protected against bombs, and Sin. guns. According to “Brassey’s Naval Annual,” the Algcrie will have a maximum speed, of 32 knots. Her armament will consist, of eight Sin. guns in four double turrets, eight 3.9 in. highangle guns, eight I.sin. machine-guns, two 21. Tin. triple torpedo tubes. Welding is to be used extensively in place of riveting.
