OBITUARY
AIRS. JAMES F. McKELVIE Extreme regret will be felt through out the Wanganui, llangitikci and Manawatu districts at the death oi Airs. Jessie Florence McKeivie, wife ci Air. James Flockhart McKelvie, o' I’ukemarama, Carnarvon, which uc curred at a private hospital, Palmer ston North, yesterday. The deceased lady, tvho wax the eldest daughter of the late Mr. David Scott, of “ Willow'oank,” Bulls, was one who endeared herselt to many people by her hospitable nature and her readiness to aid the social wellbeing of the community generally. She was noted for her work during the war period and never spared herself in the patriotic effort, that was directed to further New Zealand’s share in those days of Empire co-operation. Bhc was also an indefatigable worker in the Presbyterian Church. The late Mrs. McKelvie was anoted horsewoman and in her younger days rode to hounds and was prominent in driving competitions at agricultural shows along this coast. In fact she was an expert horse drive-. She was a great horticulturalist and apart from exhibiting she often acted as judge at various shows.
Airs. McKelvie had been ailing for the past two years and underwent an operation in a private hospital in Palmerston North on Thursday. She rallied for a time, but passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon. Her 62nd birthday was on Alay 15. She leaves a family of five, one son (Air. Rex. McKelvie), who is farming in the Car narvon district, and four daughters (Airs. J. H. Russell, Parewanui, Airs. J. 11. Gibbons. Carnarvon, and Aliases AL and R. McKelvie, of Carnarvon).
