EGGS STOLEN

OVER 150 DOZEN POLICE MAKE AS ARREST I Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, May 19. Over 150 dozen eggs valued, at £I d have been stolen from the premises of the Auckland Poultry Producers’ Association in Mount Albert. The eggs were taken on two different occasions —the first lot of 80 dozen and next 73. The eggs were laid by birds in a competition and the lots were packed ready for sending to the association’s selling agents. Recently a window at the back of the building was broken open and a thief removed two boxes containing 30 dozen eggs each and another box with 20 dozen eggs. As this meant a loss to the association of about £B, steps wore taken to secure the window against further entry. A new pane was put. in and a barricade was erected inside the window. Las’ Sunday night the building was agair. entered by the same window. Tho thiet cut out the glass pane and removed tho barricade. Again tho eggs were boxed ready for the market and tho thief found the task of removing them a comparatively easy one. The window is at the back of th'' premises away from the main road. The property has several trees upon it and anyone could enter the building without, much risk of detection. The thefts havfc not interfered with tho competitions, as each bird’s record is carefully checked before the eggs are packed. The police have made an arrest
