The following are the returns of business at the Magistrate’s Court for last year as compared with, the previous year. Amount sued for, £5758 9s lOd against £6120 10s sd. Plaints entered, 382 a decrease of 94. Distress warrants issued 12, a decrease of 10. Judgment summonses, 128 same as last. Committal warrants, 13, a decrease of 14. Writs of arrests, 3. Crminal arrests, 18 miles, 1 female, a decrease of 7 males. Criminal summonses, 47 male and 3 female, increase of 3 male and decrease of 1 female. ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the council of the Waiinarino Acclimatisation Society -was attended by Messrs T. Shout (chair), J. Dawson, P. Proud*?, D. H. Sandford, A. W. Ashwell and the secretary, A. C. Henderson. Mr. G. Hickton, secretary Taumarunui Gun Club, wrote asking if the Waimarino Society intended to liberate any pheasants in the northern portion of the district. It was agreed that the funds would not permit of any birds being purchased this season. Mr. K. W. Liddle, of Seatoun, Wellington, thanked the secretary for information and hints regarding fishing in the district. Mr. Robert Pinney, of Christ College, Christchurch, wrote asking for particular. about dry fly fishing. Mr. G. W. Gardner, Hukapapa, asked the Society if it would procure some fish for liberating in the Piopiotea Stream. Under-secretary Department of Internal Affairs advised that the recommendations of the Society regarding the 1932 season would have careful consideration. Mr. Roderick Jack, of Manunui, was declared the winner of the Ashwell Cup for the present season. Accounts amounting to £2 0s 5d were passed for payment. The chairman, accorded a cordial welcome to Mr. W. Nash, an ex-niem-ber of the council, who pays annua] visits to the district for fishing. GENERAL. Mr. and Mrs. W. Nash, of Pukekohe, formerly of Raetihi, have been spending some days’ holiday, fishing in the streams of the district. Stoats are reported to be plentiful about Pakihi at present Mrs. A. W- Ash well left for a motor tour on Thursday.
