A LIFELESS MARKET Received Jan. 14, 8.50 p.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 14. There was a featureless market at the Stock Exchange. It was apparent that shareholders are playing a waiting game. It is believed that a successful outcome from the Lausanne Conference will pave the way to brighter business. Australian consols display an easier 7s 6d on the day at £94 7s 6d; 1941 tendency. The 1938 issues dropped lost 10s"; 1947 6s 3d, and 1933 2s 6d' Some other longer dated issues declined sharply. Industrials were steady, but the turnover was below normal. Banks were almost neglected. Gas shares were steady and barrier stocks again activ?. Sales reported: Bank of New South Wales, £3O 10s; Commercial Bank,of Sydney £l7 17s 6d; Queensland National Bank, £6; Colonial Sugar, £45 ss; Dunlop Pcrdriau, 14s 3d; Australian Gaslight A share-, &5 12s; Broken Hill Proprietary, 17s 3d; Burns, Philp, 395; Tooth’s Brewery, 17s 3d; Toohcy’s Brewery, 18s 6d.
