BIG BOUT OFF SCHMELING AND WALKER STRINGENT FINANCES. Received Jan. 14, 7.45 p.m. NEW YORK, Jan. 13. Plans for the Schmeling-Walker heavyweight championship light at Miami (Florida), in February, were definitely cancelled on Wednesday because the financial conditions at. Miami were not good enough to assure a profitable gate. Schmeling’s manager announced that the Madison Square Corporation, which was promoting the bout, had agreed to its cancellation.
