Mrs. J. Hanna, of Dannevirke, spent a few days as the guest of Mrs. J. Campion, “Okirac,” Fordell.
Miss Gwen Trott left Wanganui yesterday by aeroplane to attend the Jubilee celebrations at Patca.
Miss Steele, who has been the guest of the Rev. C. E. Pierce and Mrs. Pierce, Collegiate School, has returned to Wellington.
Mrs. W. B. Guy, of Raetihi, is spending a few days in Wanganui and is the guest of her mother, Mrs. C. E. Moynihan, Durie Hill.
Mrs. Eccles, of St. John’s Hill, left yesterday with her family for Wcllingtong, where she has taken up residence at Seatoun.
The many friends of Mrs. Wedderspoon will be pleased to learn that she returns to her home to-day from the Belvcrdale Private Hospital, and that she is much improved in health.
* * * * • * Boyal Sister Victoria Lodge. Following the fortnightly meeting of the Boyal Sister Victoria Lodge M.U.L0.0.E. held on Tuesday, a most enjoyable social was held. An excellent programme was given comprising songs by Miss Ashmore and Mr. Brindle; piano solos by Misses Brindle and Olsen; recitations, Miss Watts; dance, Miss Vare; club-swinging, Miss Watts. The thanks of the members are extended to the performers for the splendid items contributed. St. Peter’s Church.
A very successful afternoon was held last week in St. Peter’s Parish Hall in aid of the cake stall for the forthcoming bazaar, which is to take place early in November. Over 70 parishioners and their friends enjoyed competitions and musical items, which were contributed by Mesdaines Sperring, Trail, and Sargeant. Amongst those present we r e: Bev. and Mrs. D. B. Malcolm, Mesdames Chisholm, B. Thurlow, G. Larking, Kemp, F. Spencer, Bead, Hampton, Healey, C. Moutray, Wainwright, Sherwin, Greenhill, Andrews, Christen-, sen, Whitcombe, W. Draftin, Swan, Atkins, A. G. Bignell, C- Bigneil, iDud ding, L. Craig, P. Mepham, G. Naumann S. Dix, G. Payne, E. Tustin, D. Meldrum, Bobinson, T. Sperring, E. Trail, J. Sargeant, Williams, Hove, B. Brown, King, Wilson, and the Misses O’Neill, Morrison, Wilson, Jeffries, Malcolm, and Aslin, and many others.
“Pantry Tea.’’ Mrs. S. Billinghurst, Maxwell, was hostess on Tuesday, at a delightful “pantry tea,” in honour of Miss Winnifred Handley, who is shortly to be married. During the afternoon two amusing competitions were solved. The winners of these being Mrs. D. Morrison, and Miss L. Morrison. After afternoon tea, the guests of honour opened the many interesting parcels. Airs. Billinghurst received her guests wearing a smart frock of primrose and black.
