ANTI-EVICTIONIST INCIDENTS MAGISTRATE’S COURT SEQUEL [ Per PreM A’-soeintion. ! , AUCKLAND, Oct. 13. “Don’t get excited and interfere with the police. Sometimes th© most innocent little act might cause trouble and even death,” said the magistrate (Mr Hunt) this morning to Airs Alice Cassie, whom he convicted on a charge of obstructing a detective during tha arrest yesterday of a Communist named James Henry Edwards, aged 39. Airs. Cassie, who denied that she was a Communist, was also charged with committing wilful mischief by damaging the detective’s coat, but in this tho magistrate said there was a doubt, and he dismissed it. On the obstruction charge he ordered her to come up for sentence if called upon within six months. Edwards, who was charged with encouraging lawlessness by a speech on Sunday, was remanded till to-morrow on £5(l bail to enable counsel to prepare the defence, Edwards giving an undertaking to refrain from agitation in the meanwhile. RED FLAG FLOWN FIFTEEN MEN ARRESTED. [ Per Press Association. 1 AUCKLAND, Oct. 13. A red flag was flying this morning from the roof of a house in Norfolk Street, Ponsonby, which has been occupied since Thursday by members of the anti-eviction committee. It was outside this house that detectives yesterday arrested the Communist James' Henry Edwards, who was to-day remanded on bail. No attempt was made yesterday by the police to enter the house, but this morning a large body raided it and arrested every man inside, 15 in all, on charged of assaulting the bailiff in the execution of his duty, vagrancy, and unlawful assembly. They arc to appear later at the Police Court.
