CHRIST CHURCH PARISH CLOSE COMPETITION The Queen Carnival now in progrest in Wanganui is causing great interest. Thi carnival has been promoted by the Christ Church Men’s Club for the purpose of augmenting the funds of tho Christ Church parish. Photographs of the candidates and the barometer showing their positions are to be seen Mthe window of Nir Saunders’ Trinity Buildings. Tho votes are count? ed daily and posted up to enable the competition to be followed closely. Tho All Saints’ (Wanganui EasCl candidate, Miss Christian Alexander if at present leading with 11.806 votos, followed by Miss Violet Caswell, St. John’s (Liverpool Street) 9,348 votee. Miss Peggy Gilbert. Christ Church (city) 8,497 votes. Miss Grace Williams, St. Chads (St. John’s Hill) 7,740 votes, and Miss Lucy Kiff, St. Agnes (Tayforth) 6.276 votes. The contest definitely closes on Tuesday, October 6, at 4 p.m. The final results will be announced at a function to be hold in St. John’s Hall that same evening, when the club will entertain nil the candidates, their committees and supporters. Card afternoons an* 1 evenings are tho order of the day and all committees are working very hard in an endeavour to have their respective candidates placed at the top of the poll.
