OCCUPATION IN LONDON English women have stormed yot w other profession formerly run almort entirely by men. They are becoming women detectives. In the course of a walk through the West End of London lately, a journalist discovered 11 nameplates of women who are acting as confidential agents, inquiry agents and private detectives'. •‘There is a definite need for women of the right sort in this profession, an official of one of London’s largest detective agencies stated. Miss Maud West, who runs her own detective agency in London, when asked what was attracting so many women to detective work, said: “It is beeaus. most of them have the idea that it is a very easy job. When they discover that it. is not simply a case of slipping stealthily round corners, but hard work, with very uncertain hours, they are sadly disappointed, and give up.’’
