SCENES IN SYDNEY GREAT RUSH FOR TICKETS SAVINGS BANK’S NEW USE UNEMPLOYED AS INVESTORS (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) Received Aug. 10, 9.25 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 10. Completely blocking pedestrian traffic in t’.vd busy city streets, thousands of people gathered in wide queues today for tickets in the first St-.to lottery, the official opening of which was marked by remarkable scenes. Hundreds of people assembled at six in the morning and hundreds more were unable to buy tickets. So great was th n crush that the large staff was unable to cope therewith. Women seemed to predominate, but a large percentage were men, obviously unemployed. The magnificent building of the Government Savings Bank, formerly handling millions of tho people’s money, is the new headquarters of the lottery. DOLE BREAD CONTRACT MR BAVIN’S CENSURE. SYDNEY, Aug. 10. The circumstances surrounding th” dole bread contract will probably be ventilated in Parliament to-morrow, when a motion of censure on the Gov ernment will be moved by Mr Bavin.
