WAVERLEY

EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT CLUB Boisterous weather did not prevent any of the local enthusiasts from attending the hunt at Air AV. 11. AVatkins’ farm last Saturday, although there were not many from a distance. Hounds led the field several fast runs over splendid country, and after a short while a kill was made in the pine gully on Air Aiken’s property. The pack then took the chase over Mr Belton’s property, and after an exciting run a second kill was made in a gully on Mr Staite’s property. Several fast runs backwards and forwards over the several properties then followed, but a heavy hailstorm forced followers to take shelter, and shortly afterwards the pack was called in. Mr and Mrs Watkins entertained the club at afternoon tea, when their generous hospitality was much more greatly appreciated. Dr. Simmons, on behalf of the club, thanked their host and hostess, and Aiessrs Watkins, Belton, Staitc, Lupton Bros., and Aiken Bros, for the use of th ir properties. Without the generosity of these gentlemen there could be no hunting in the district. Air AVatkins replied.
