SANSON

GIFT EVENING. The Bandon Hall was well filled on Wednesday night, the occasion being a complimentary gift evening tendered to Miss Deane Hammond, daughter of Air and Airs Stewart Hammond, of Marton, but formerly residents of this locality. A happy social evening was spent with music, social talk and dancing. Contributors to the musical portion of the programme were: Masses Nancy and Phylis Fagan. Miss Millard (Bainessc), and Air L. Billman. The music for the dancing was played by friends. At an interval during the evening Air Allen Henson, on behalf of the many friends in the district, wished Aliss Hammond the best of good luck in her married life and asked her to accept the numerous parcels brought as a slight token of the regard in which she is held. Air W. Manley responded on behalf of Miss Hammond. A dainty supper was provided by lady friends and a happy evening closed with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and cheers for the guest of the evening. MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. The local club sent teams to shoot at Awahuri on Friday night, both teams scoring a win. They were entertainei at supper. Air G. Lucas congratulated the winning teams and expressed regret that Sandon had not been successful in their effort to collect the AlcKelvie Cup, as it had been the intention of the Awahuri team to come to Sandon and lift it. They would, however, perhaps pay a visit to Ohakea and bring the cup hack with them. Air W. E. Pearce responded on behalf of the Sandon team and thanked the Awahuri team for their hospitality. The scores were as follows:
