BOXING

BOUT AT HAWERA THOMAS TO FIGHT JOHNS WEDNESDAY ’S ATTRACTION Owing to Donovan being iTndispos ed ns a result of injuries to his head during the bout with The ias at New Plymouth last Thursday, it has been found necessary to secure a substitute for the Waitara fireman in his engagement at Hawera. Donovan was to have fought Johns at Hawera, but the secretary of the Hawera I *)xing Association advises that Thomas will now take Donovan’s place. This should ensu even greater interest in the bout, for many patrons of tho fistic art have been looking forward to seeing tho American in another bout in Ta r ‘iuaki, having been very favourably impressed by his display at New Plymouth last week. As some excellent preliminary Fonts have been arranged there should be a most satisfactory “house” at tho Opera House on Wednesday night. A largo Wanganui contingent is expected to attend.
