WANGANUI ASSOCIATION TRIAL MATCHES. In spito of tho wet weather on Saturday, the representivo trial matches wero proceeded with in all grades. The strength of tho teams suffered by reason of absentees, but nevertheless the keenness of those who braved the elements was rewarded by tho enjoyable games. Under tho conditions tho standard of play was not high, though in the senior men’s trial there were flashes of brilliance.
The junior men’s game was the mo> satisfactory. Tho boys played keen I from beginning to end and tho selei
tors were given every chance of review ing the ability of tho players. In the other grades, however, tho games could have been of little practical assistance to the selectors. Tho contests wero treadted by tho players more as good opportunity for enjoyable practice.
