Ltd. report, as follows: We are right in the middle of the clearing sale season and have been busy every day with sales, which in each case have turned out slightly loiter than was expected, the avuni -e price for herds with good factory returns being about £9. There has been a decided move in the heifer market and a number of sales have gone through during the week. Very few big lines are selling, itowuver, and those ready to purchase . re taking only the very pick of the good quality forward heifers. There is some enquiry also in the weaner heifer section and it, js becoming more difficult to find sellers ot good heiters nt £2 Ji.) S to £3. A number of sales have gone through, ju this section with prices ranging from £2 to £3 ss. In the store sheep section little business is being done and although there is keen enquiry for good ewes they are increasingly difficult to procure, the inferior evvo is available with very few prepared to purchase anything but the best; sales of young sheep are easy to make and we report sales of 2-tooth ewes 14s 6d to 17s; 4tooth ewes 15s to 16s 6d; 2-tooth wethers are enquired for but supplies are short and the money asked does not tempt purchasers. Fat fcJheep—supplies becoming increasingly short, fat ewes are easier to dispose of at round about. 12s and fat wethers about 15s. Fat cattle demand is slightly better with very little difference in the price; best fat cows available at about £5 co £5 10s; fat bullocks very few changing hands. Stratford .sale on Tuesday, 23rd. inst. —There was a small yarding of svire cows with prices on a par with recent sales. Inglewood sale.—A good yarding of store and dairy cattle, bidding being brisk, fat cows sold up to £5 9s, dairy heifers to £5 5s and dairy cows £7 5s to £9 according to quality. Clearing Sales.—The clearing sale conducted on account of Mr W. B. Franks was well attended and JOG cows came forward in splendid condition, being good bodied cattle, the average price was £9 for the .106, the top price being £.14 10s. Mr G. E. Cowling’s sale on the following day was very successful and exceeded expectations, good factory returns were produced ami although there were no dates available, the cows were a very attractive lot, well into the Jersey and showing plenty of quality; the average price for the 103 cows was £9 7s ami the top price was again £l4 10s, which must be

considered very satisfactory. Mace Bros’. Clearing Bale. —These cows came forward in fair condition, the top price being £l5 and average over all £B. Air R. S. Hodges’ sale, Kapuni, was the most successful sale we have conducted this season, the cows were in good order and a very typey lot, the top price £l4, with the satisfactory average lof £9 17s. The sale on account of the estate of F. C. Anstis at Nukumaru was well attended and a big number of cows changed hands; unfortunately, here again dates and general information were not available but the btst of the cows, which were visibly early calvers, made up to £JO 10s, with an average of about £6. A large number of heifers on account of the estate and also on account of outside vendors, horses and sundries met a ready market at ruling rates.
