CROSS-COUNTRY FLIGHT
THREE AUCKLAND MACHINES. VISIT MADE TO HAMILTON. ( Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, June 25. A flight for the purpose of giving three members of the Auckland Aero Club experience in cross-country flying and landing on strange grounds was made to Hamilton and back yesterday by three Gipsy Moth aeroplanes. Miss G. N. Peacock, of Epsom, the second lady pupil of the club to obtain her pilot’s license, and Air A. B. Ran by, of To Aroha, each piloted a machine, but did not carry a passenger. Neither of them had made a solo cross country flight previously. In the third Gipsy Moth, which is fitted with dual control, were Flight-Lieutenant D. AL Allen, instructor to the chib, and Air G. B. White, a pupil of the club who has not let gained his pilot’s license. The machines left the Alangere aerodrome at 11.15 a.m. under ideal conditions, the uneventful journey to Tc Rapa, Hamilton, being accomplished in an hour. The return trip occupied three-quarters of an hour, the machines arriving at Alangere at 3.30 p.m.
