GATHERING OF MAORIS
NEW MEETING HOUSE TE PUKE OPENING CEREMONY Nearly 678 Alaoris from all parts of the district gathered at the Rangiuru Pa, Te Puke, to be present, at the opening of the new Alaori meetinghouse. The visitors were entertained at a dance in the evening and during the day poi dances and other entertainments were given. Among the principal Alaori speakers were Messrs Alita Taupopoki (Rotorua), Kakatau Taioha (Tauranga), and Kihirini Wenetia (Te Puke). Air H. Tai Mitchell was also present, representing the Arawa Trust Hoard.
