STORM IN SOUTH
HUGE SEAS ON THE COAST FERRY STEAMER IN GALE. [British Official Virelees.j CHRISTCHURCH, June 24. A violent south-west storm continues and a considerable amount of minor damage is reported in the city and sub urbs. Huge seas along the coast delayed shipping. The ferry steamer Maori is battling in the teeth of the gale, and is not expected to reach Lyttelton till late in the afternoon. The gale reached a maximum velocity of 65 miles an hour at six yesterday evening. Two inches of rain fell in 24 hours.
