A young woman in Remuera was I struck on the head and left unconscious on the doorstep of her home on Sunday evening, while her assailant ransacked the house. She answered a ring at the door and the stranger asked for directions. As she turned he struck her. When she recovered her senses she staggered to the telephone and called up neighbours. She collapsed again. Meantime the assailant searched nearly every room, but only a clock was stolen. The young woman’s mother was at the time visiting a private hospital where her younger daughter is seriously ill.
