DRY WEATHER ENDS
CANTERBURY’S RECORD ( Per Press Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, June 23. The long spell of fine weather was broken to-day with a heavy south-west gale and heavy rain. Although tho farmers wanted rain, they would have preferred it without such severe told. Ou the higher country at the foot or the mountains there were sleet showers and in places snow. The rain which has fallen will not. be sufficient. Io spoil the record of the half year, which is nearly completed, as the driest ever experienced in Canterbury.
