CONSERVATIVE AMENDMENT. DEFEAT IN THE COMMONS. Received June 23, 9.45 p.m. LONDON, June 23. In the House of Commons, Sir 11. B. Betterton moved the Conservative s amendment to reduce additional borrowing to £15,000,000. Commander Kenworthy suggested that unemployment should be paid for out of revenue and borrowing should be. for armaments. Mr Baldwin charged the Government with increasing the debt without making economies or meeting tho critical situation by increased taxation. • The amendment was defeated by 283 votes to 237. _______
