City Council Meeting

The special meeting of the City Council called for last night to deal with formal business in respect to by-laws lapsed for want of a quorum, and was adjourned until to night. Salaries will be dealt with this evening but the bulk of the business will be taken “in com mit tee.’ ’ Police v. Press Arrangements for Rugby’s Charity Saturday were briefly discussed at last night’s meeting of the Metropolitan Union’s Management Committee. The chairman of the fixtures committee (Mr A. Danielson) reported that representatives of the Police and Press had approached him regarding a date for their annual fixture, which is to bo promoted in the cause of charity. The union decided that the match could be played on either July 25 or August 1, the exact date being dependent upon the return representative match with Taranaki. It is the intention of the union to stage a club match as a curtain raiser to the I Police v, con ten.
