BOLTING HORSES
TWO PEOPLE INJURED. I Per Press Association. 1 WHANGAREI, June 22. A double accident of a sensational nature occurred on Turntable Hill, near Kawakawa, on Sunday evening. George Halliday was driving a buggy and two horses when the animals were frightened at the lights of a car loaded with footballers and bolted. The buggy capsized and Halliday had both forearms broken. The frightened animals galloped along the road until they collided with a car being driven towards Whangarei. The driver was stunned by the impact, but intuitively turned the car into the bank and ap plied the brakes as the machine began to back into a deep ravine. He was taken to Kawakawa Hospital, but was later able to return to Whangarei, where he is in bed suffering from shock and a badly crushed arm.
