FOOTBALL CLUB’S DANCE The third of a series of dances in aid of the Waitotara Football Club was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday, 17th inst., and proved a success, both financially and otherwise. Quite a fair crowd of people was present, and there were man visitors from Wanganui and towns up and down the lino. Mrs Gardiner (piano) and Mrs Nicholls (violin) provided the - usic. and responded generously to the many encores. During the evening several novelty dances were included in the programme, the winners being: Monte Carlo, Mr K. Burke and Miss 8. McConachy J, M-s Lovett and partner 2. Lucky spot waltz, Mrs . Langdon and Mrs Edwards. Lucky hat waltz, Air Stockman. There were two guessing competitions, which were won by Air Plumber and Air W. Vincent respectively. An excellent supper was provided by the ladies. PERSONAL Friends of Airs A. Thynnt will regret to hear that she is still an inmate of the Belverdale Private Hospital, at Wanganui, where she lr recently undergone a second operation. Recent information seems to indicate that she is progressing satisfactorily, and it 4 s hoped that she will soon be able to return home. Airs AL Watson, who for some time has been an inmate of the Patea Hospital, has returned to Waitota.a. FOOTBALL The Waitotara v. Kai Iwi match was played at Waitotara. Ideal weather conditions prevailed, and the ground was in splendid order. There was a large attendance of the public. Scores at half-time: Waitotara 6, Kai Iwi 3. Five minutes before the final whistle, Kai Iwi evened up, the final score being Waitotara 6, Kai Iwi 6. The teams were very evenly matched, and, on the day's play, the result was a fair indication of the merits of tl.e two teams. Scorers for Waitotara: B. Forsyth, unconverted try; N. Hare, penalty goal. For Kai Lwi: Wiri and Flintoff, unconverted tries. J. Verry ably controlled the game. The Up-River v. Waverley match, played at Puao, resulted in a decisive win for the former by 1 4to 3. UpRiver team is now leading for t' cup by 1 point.
