Comment to-night on President Hoover’s announcement interpreted his references to the Geneva Conference as the President’s way of serving notice upon the European Governments that if they desired a modification of the war debt arrangements with the United States the best course of procedure would be to reduce heavy armaments and expenditures and thus create a sym pathetic and reciprocal feeling among the American people. MR MELLON IN LONDON. AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT. LONDON, June 19. Downing Street officially denies that Mr A. W. Mellon has been invited to London or that America had been re quested to discuss war debts. MR MACDONALD’S PLANS. TRAVELLING BY' AIR. [British Official Wireless.] RUGBY, June 19. Mr MacDonald hopes to proceed to Berlin by air when he goes on July .17 to return the recent visit to London or the German Chancellor and Foreign Minister. Subject to weather conditions, Mr MacDonald will also fly back to Lon don, probably on July 20.
