LOWER INTEREST RATE SOUGHT (Times Cable). Received June 21, 11.25 p.m. NEW YORK, June 20. Sir Ronald Lindsay (British Ambassador), to-day conferred with the Treasury Department on “the general economic situation and the international problems with which we are confronted.” The understanding prevailed that the subject was the British Debt to the United States. Several factors have contributed to the suggestion that the interest rate of Britain’s indebtedness should be lowered. The principal factor is that the United States is paying a lower interest for its bond flotations recently ano it is expected to be as low as 3 per cent, shortly.
