The Hon. W. A. Veitch arrived in Wanganui yesterday and will remain until Monday.
Mr Julian Foster, United States Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, was a visitor to Palmerston North for the National Dairy Show.
tDr. D. Vaughan Thomas, who will comluct examinations in the North Js land for Trinity College of Music, London, arrived at Auckland by the Niagara this week.
Mr C. T. Wilson, of Wellington, is acting as Traffic Manager at Wanganui railway station until the vaeancj caused bv the death of Mr A. 8. Camp Jell is filled.
Mr W. Kennedy, of the Eastown Workshops, has retired on superannuation after 35 years’ service, and at the noon hour on Wednesday he was met by his fellow workers and presented with a suitcase and travelling rug.

Mac Diarmid, who recently returned to New Zealand from Heiban after nineteen years’ service with the Sudan United Mission, has received intimation from the Governor-Genera] of the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan that he has had conferred upon him the honour of membership in the Order of the British Empire. Mr Mac Diarmid and his wife are well known for the missionary and educational work they have done in the Sudan.
