’Y(/ r EDCOME WEEK, as an effort to put the public in a better
frame of mind to face the problems presenting themselves to-day is an effort in mass psychology which will be well worth supporting. A slump is 50 per cent, psychology. “There’s nothing good or bad in heaven or earth, but thinking makes it so,” said Shakespeare, and the Welcome Week Commttee has decided to have Wanganui helped to good by thinking it so. Although Shakespeare died before the infant Science of Psy-
chology was born, he nevertheless knew how men and women did their thinking and what reactions proceeded therefrom, and we m#y say that had he lived to-day he would have endorsed the effort of Welcome Week. The committee has worked very hard indeed and like Hamlet and the Players they can say, “It is not in mortals to command success; we’ll do more, deserve it.” It is to be hoped that the effort meets with the full measure of success which it deserves.
