General situation.—The cyclone is now centred east of East Cape tftid has deepened still further. A moderate anti cyclone is moving ou to the Dominion. Forecast.—Winds: South-east to southerly north of Hokitika and Akaroa, still strong to gale force in places, but shortly decreasing; variable in southern districts with northerlies prevailing. Seas (N.Z. waters): Still rough to heavy in and north of Cook Strait, but later moderating; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate southerly winds, later becoming variable; seas moderating. Weather: Cloudy to overcast about and north of Cook Strait, with further rain. Some heavy falls between Cape Palliser and East Cape, but elsewhere scattered showers only. Weather improving gradually from westward, and fair to tine over most of the South Island. Temperatures cold.
