VICAR’S STRANGE SUICIDE
Estate of £11,092 was left by the Rev. Hamilton Jackson, aged 65, vicar of Shalford, near Guildford, whose body was found in the River Wey on January 16. A sufferer from neurasthenia and insomnia, he had the obsession that he bail iio money and was in danger of arrest. Before going to bed on January 15 he, had a good supper and smoked a cigar. The next day he was reported mi.»sii.g. “Suicide while temporarily insane 7 ’ was the verdict returned at the inquest.
