GOVERNMENTS PLANS LEGISLATIVE PROGRAMME MR FORBES INTERVIEWED SIR 0. NIEMEYER’S REPORT [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, June 16. In reply to a question in regard to legislation for the coming session, the Prime Minister said that apart from measures for raising funds for the carrying on of unemployment rc'ief and revenue in an endeavour to balance the national accounts, one of the main Bills would be the Transport Bill. It would be largely on the line* of the proposals introduced into tho House of Representatives previously, but not proceeded with. Some alterations had been made as a result of conferences between officers of the Transport Department and the interested bodies. It was intimated that there would bo no legislation this year or. the currency question. The report of Sir Otto Niemeyer on the banking system of New Zealand would be laid on the table of the House, and members would bo afforded an opportunity to discuss the recommendations and express their views on the subject. Tho question as to what action would be taken by the Government would be a matter for subsequent decision, but at present there was no intention of introducing banking legislation this session. It was a matter which required very careful consideration and investigation before new proposals were brought down. Asked if he proposed to open up the licensing questions by tho introduction of a Bill to give effect to his intention to take power of control to issue licenses for breweries and distilleries, Mr Forbes said there was no need to do that. Tho issue of licenses was a matter for the Collector of Customs, and the purpose could bo achieved by an amendment to the Customs Act,
