OPENING DAY YESTERDAY BRIGHT SUNSHINE PREVAILS WINNING WANGANUI ENTRANTS Twenty-nine years of progress, closely identified with the growth of an outstanding dairying centre, were represented in the National Dairy Show whivh opened at Palmerston North yesterday. Conducted by the Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the Winter Show, which provides an excellent exposition of the primary industries at a time when the need was never greater, wilt extend over a period of five days and nights. Contrary to the usual conditions for show week, the weather was fine, with bright sunshine. Awards were made yesterday in the classes for fruit, honey, vegetables, farm and school roots, seeds, grain, farm produce, home industries, needlework, photography, farmers’ butter, etc., all of which constituted strong competitive divisions, there being record entries.
