Forecast. — Winds: Strong north-easterlies north of Auckland, veering gradually to south-westerlies, elsewhere moderate south-east to south west winds, increasing generally and later rising to gale force at places about and north of Cook Strait. Seas (N.Z. waters): Becoming rough north of Farewell Spit and Akaroa, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong southeast to southerly winds; seas rough in the central and northern portions, moderate in the southern. Weather: Mainly fair in western districts of the South Island and in Otago and Southland, elsewhere unsettled, with some rain. Some heavy falls in northern ano north-eastern areas. Cold temperatures.
