THE BRIDGE GROYNE
SHOULD IT BE REMOVED? Discussion on the merits and demerits of the groyne above the Town Bridge took place at the Harbour Board! meeting yesterday. Mr A. S. Burgess said that the ex-1 penditure on dredging at the wharf: had increased since the groyne was! erected, and it v.as his opinion th it the erection was the cause. The Resident Engineer (Mr H. \ . M : Haszard), after remind.ng the boardi that when he had repurie I on the ad visability of erecting he groyne in ‘.he first instance he had termed it an experiment, said that < ••■i if ;t was removed the siltation trouble would remain.
