DANCE POSTPONED The Kata Ladies’ Hockey Club dance- ( to have been held on Thursday in the Coronation Hall, has been postponed until Tuesday, June 23. I* was found that the Old Boys were holding a dance on Thursday night and to avoid anyclashing of dates the Rata ladies decided to postpone their dance. RANGITIKEI RUGBY UNION RANGITIKEI v. TAIHAPE The annual representative match between the Rangitikei and Taihape Rugby Unions is set down for Wednesday afternoon on the Marton Park, commencing at 2.45 sharp. The Ran gitikei team (green) will assemble at the Marton Hotel, and the Taihape team (maroon) at the White Hart Hotel. The junior shield matches for tomorrow are as follows: —Old Boys v. Athletic, at Marton No. 2 grouid, at 3 p.m. (Rev. B. D. Ashcroft). Bulls v. Ohingaiti, at Bulls (Mr D. Westwood). Halcombe \. Hunterville, at Huntervilli) (Mr T. Thompson). With the exception of the Old Boys-Athletic match the games start at 2.45 p.m. PERSONAL SUDDEN DEATH The death occurred suddenly on Saturday night of Mrs Selby (formerly Miss Gwen Rees, of Marton'. It is understood that Mrs Selby had recently recovered from pleurisy; death was due to heart failure. THE CIVIC THEATRE “NO, NO, NANETTE” The screen production of “No, No, Nanette,” which opens at the Civic Theatre on Wednesday afternoon and evening, and also on Thursday evening, will contain song hits from the original stage siiow as well as many new numbers which have already attained great popularity since th) recent release of this colourful First National picture. “Tea For Two” and “I Want To Be Happy,” from the footlight p oduction, will be heard in the Vitaphone edition, sung bv a chorus of 150 and the two featured leads, Berni Clairo and Alexander Gray. The big number of the picture, however, is “King of the Air,” bv Eddie Ward and Al Bryan, one of Hollywood’s most harmonious songwriting teams. “No, No, Nanette” is one of the most lavish pictures ever produced at the First National Studios. Four of the big sequences—the Holland. Japan, New York, and Mars episodes—each cost more than the entire original stage production.
