SAVED FROM FIRE
THREE CHILDREN IN HOUSE WOMAN’S BRAVE ACTION lIAAIILTON, June 13. The school teacher’s residence at Puketaha, occupied by Air and Airs J llaggo, their three young children and a domestic, Aliss Alabcl Jones, was destroyed by fire in the very early hours of this morning. Airs Haggo, who teaches at the Puke taha school, and Aliss Jones were asleep in a tent outside the house, and they were awakened by the noiso of something falling in the dwelling, which they found was ablaze. Tho three children were asleep in the front bedroom and Miss Jones pluckily entered the room through a window and rescued them. The room was filled with smoke and flames wore bursting through, and but -for Miss Jones’ bravery they must have perish ed. Neighbours pay a high tribute f o her presence of mind and pluck. Air Haggo, who is employed a» a shunter at tho Frankton Junction rail way station, was absent at work at th*' time, of the outbreak. Tho house, which was of four rooms, was about 10 years old.
