TEXTILE STRIKERS
DISORDERS IN FRANCE POLICE FORCED TO RETIRE Received June 14, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, June 14. Advice from Roubaix states that grave disorders followed the police prohibiting a demonstration of textile strikers, who began to molest isolated policemen. When the latter were reinforced, 800 men and women armed with sharp stones attacked the police. With a terrific hail of stones the police retired with their faces running with blood. Finally the police and troops were withdrawn ami were posted in a cordon round the district, not permitting anyone to enter.
