Canon E. Rice, of Waipukurau, who has been recuperating in Christchurch after a lengthy illness, is leaving for Fiji to spend the winter months there. Captain G. P. Evans, who for the past 10 years has held the position of surveyor of ships in the Marine Dcpa rtment at Dunedin, has taken up his new appointment of assistant-superintend-ent of mercantile marine in Welling ton. The Rev. H. J. L. Goldthorpe, vicar of Avondale, formerly of Wellington, and. Eltham, has received word of his appointment as vicar of JDnrgaville, North Auckland. He will take up his new duties nt the beginning of July. Mr Bernard Tripp has left for Australi. to attend the Empire Wool Conference, which is to take place in Melbourne on June 22. Mr Tripp is the delegate for the New Zealand Sheep Owners’ Federation and the Farmers’ Union. Mr Robertson, manager of the Napier branch of the National Bank for the past two years, who left on Saturday on promotion to take over tuc branch of the bank at Hamilton, was met by the staff of the bank on Wednesday afternoon.
