With the concluding day of the Waikato meeting to-day and the South Canterbury fixture next buturday there are only two days' racing for the Dominion this week. Judging bj the lack of interest shown in noth fixtures neither of them would have been missed. Next Week. There will be two days’ racing at the Greenmeadows course next ween when the Napier Park meeting will be held. Considering the fact that the earthquake disaster was only n little over four months ago it speak's well for the recovery made by Hawke’s that the nominations for the fixture are so satisfactory. A Chance Missed. It would appear that a 'chance oi landing a good stake with High Pitch was missed when it was decided to let him drop out of the Victoria Hurdles at Te Rapa to-day. Only two acceptors figure on the card lor this .£l5O race, and hud High Pitch been able to run and reproduce his Ellerslie second-day form he would have taken a lot of beating. It is worth noting that he recorded his first success as a hurdler on the Te Rapu course when he won the Raglan Hurdles in April last, and there is little doubt that since then he has much improved in jumping ability. Havering’s Spell. The Hawera-owncd Havering, re cently trained by J. Gray at Takaninj, returned to Hawera on Thursday. Although a great winter horse, Havering may now be allotted a spell. Visit Now Unlikely. The contemplated visit from a party of West Indies sportsmen and breeuers this winter is now not likely to take place. The circumstances that have prevented the visit are principally the reports of the February earthquake, and also the unfavourable trading conditions at present existing. However, it is probable that the party will come later on, perhaps at lhe time of the yearling sales or during next winter. “Triple Crown” Winners In view of the possibility, even pro bability, that another “triple crown’ winner will be added to English records this year in Cameronian, alreadv winner of the Two Thousand Guinea* and the Derby, it is interesting to not) what horses have to date had theii names so enrolled. First on the lisl comes West Australian (by Melbourne) who won distinction in 1853, and at an

interval of twelve years came the series of victories on the part of the French-bred colt Gladiator, by Monarque, who carried the colours of Count de Lagrange. Eleven other horses have subsequently won the treble, these being:— Lord Lyon (by Stockwell), in 1886; Ormonde (by Bond Or), in .1.891; Gal tee More (by Kendal), in 1897; Flying Fox (by Orme), in 1599; Diamond Jubilee (by St. Simon), in .1900; Rock Sand (by Sainfoin), in 1903; Pomniern (by Polymelus), in 1915; Gay Crusader (by Bayardo). in 1917; and Gainsborough (by Bayardo), in 1918.
