SINGLE CONTROL ARRANGED A CONTEST NEXT FEBRUARY [Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 11. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Band Contest Committee, the president, Mr H. D. Bennett, iti his report, stated that the abandoned con* test would bo held in Wellington tn February next. Mr Bennett announced that arrangements for the single control of New Zealand bands had been finalised and tho old North Island and South Island Associations had been dissolved in favour of a single body with headquarters in Wellington. Mr J. J. Kelly, of New South Wales, has been appointed adjudicator for the contest, with Mr A. Scnnack as assistant. The programme provides cash prized amounting to £307 for A Grade tests and £179 for B Grade, with £75 for tho quickstep competition. There will also bo an “own choice’’ hymn con test open to both grades. A departure will bo made from th< usual custom, in that tho contest wil commence with the big marches oi Saturday, instead of that event bein; staged on tho last day.
