LONG BICYCLE RIDE
ADELAIDE TO MELBOURNE GIRLS PEDAL 600 MILES. Two Adelaide girls. Phyllis Sharman, ; aged 2.1, and Melba White, aged 19, ar- ! rived in Melbourne recently after a 600Imilc bicycle ride from Adelaide, which [they accomplished in 13 days. i ‘lt began as a joke,” Miss Sharman said. “We are both members of tho South Australian Club, and were always talking of riding to Melbourne, but I did not take it seriously until one night Melba rang me up and said, 4 Got tho bikes ready, Phyl. We’ll go to Melbourne to-morrow.’” The trip cost the girls 6s 6d each. Practically every hotel at which thev stayed refused to take payment. They were tired, but fit, at the end of the journey, and intended riding back.
