ANCIENT RELIC
SIR F. PETRIE'S WORK S 10 EXCAVATION AT GAZA LONDON, May 11. Sir Flinders Petrie has just returned from Palestine. He says that the scraps being collected from 4000-ycar-old ruins for dispatch to the University of Lon don may hold important secrets. They were obtained at Gaza, which was the first city of tho Shcrhord Kings un earthed in Palestine. Abraham rested hereabouts while journeying to Egypt. Mosquitoes had delayed excavations for two months, taking toll of the workers as they did when they destroyed the city. Eighty rooms excavated were found to be constructed of largo yellowish bricks, excellently laid, and ceilings as high as those of modern London. A long street of cross thoroughfares were uncovered.
There wore only two levels deeper to go, when more interesting finds were expeetd.
