WAGE REDUCTIONS

ARBITRATION COURT HEARING COMMENCES TO-DAY PROVISION BY FINANCE ACT [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, May 11. The Arbitration Court commences to morrow hearing the application lodged by the New Zealand Employers’ Federation under the terms of the Finance Act, 1931, for the issue of a general order reducing the wages paid under the various court awards. The amount of the reduction suggested. has nut been disclosed. The case for tho employers will be handled by the. secretary of the Federation. Air T. O. Bishop, who will open proceedings with a statement setting out the reasons for tho application. Air J. AlcCombs, M.F., and Air W. T. Young, secretary of the Wellington Woollen AHUs Employees’ Union, and formerly secretary of the New Zealand Seamen’s Federation will state the case on behalf of tho Trades Council’s Federation. A ’-epresentative of the Alliance of Labour will also appear, as well as advocates on behalf of the particular unions.
