TASMANIA’S DECISION
REJECTION OF LABOUR VOTING IN STATE ELECTIONS GOVERNMENT STRENGTHENED [By Telegraph—Press Association— C >pyright] Received Al ay 10, 5 5 p.m. HOBART, Al ay 10. The Federal financial issue appears to have entered into the State general election in which there was steady voting yesterday fo divisions, each returning six members. At the dissolu tion, the House comprised 15 Nationalists, II Labour and one Independent. A later message states that on a preliminary count Labour appears to have lost ground all round and the Government is likely to gain a seat in the Darwin division, also another in Wilmot and probably a third in Denison. The Premier, Air McPhee, based the Government ’s financial policy on adhesion to the Melbourne agreement and making the State live within its means. The Labour leader, Mr Ogilvie, espoused tho fiduciary note issue and the Lang plan. His personal vote in Frank, lin shows a heavy drop. The present indication of the state of the parties shows: Nationalist and non-Labour .. IS Labour 12
