Deceased prior to her demise was resid ing at Bay View, Napier. She was seriously injured in the earthquake of February 3, and was removed to Wanganui. The late Mrs Escrect leaves a husband and one son—Harry —both of Hastings, and daughter, Mrs Porter, of Bay View, to mourn their loss. Prior to his departure for Stratford, where he has been appointed postmaster; Mr D. McCready, postmaster at Eltham for the past six years, was farewelled by the staff recently and congratulated on his promotion. On behalf of the staff Mr Kyle presented Mr McCready with a small gift as a token of the esteem in which he was held by all. At the same time opportunity was taken to welcome Mr H. C. Jones, who is succeeding Mr McCready. The funeral of the late Mr A. W. Budge. {Stratford, who died on Wednesday, took place on Friday afternoon. The Rev. G. T. Beale officiated at the short service in the Stratford Anglican Church and at the graveside. The mourners in the 50 cars that followed the hearse were representative of all parts of Taranaki. The pall-bearers were Messrs S. Pitt, F. P. D. Jeffries, E. S. Rutherford, H. M. Good, J. B. Richards and S. M. Porritt.
