HEN'S "WORLD'S RECORD"
Skipton, in Yorkshire, claims to ha\G Ihe world’s record hen. The “Old Lady.” as she is called, is 17 years obi ami “still laying strong.” She was bought ll years ago not as a layer, but as a broody hen to hatch put ducks’ eggs. To everyone’s surprise she started to lay eggs of her own as soon as the ducklings had taken to the wat *r. Since that lime the old hen has started laying each year in the middle of April ami has gone on for six or seven weeks. Then she has a fit of broodiness, but gets to work again a little Inter ami cunt-nm-s to produce eggs for another six or seven weeks. The “Old Lady’s” average output nowadays js about three eggs a week during her biwy times.
