ON WANGANUI TRACKS TRAINING PREPARATIONS, SATURDAY MORNING’S WORK With the majority of the candidates tor the Wanganui Jockey Club’s winter meeting well forward as a result of outings at Marton and Hawera, it is not unexpected to find thar few have been galloped fast locallv as vet, though during the next few days some arrivals will lend an air of activity to the tracks. On Saturday morning .some visitors were out doing serviceable pacework, among them being Shrewd, Cuticle. Bennanee, Manifesto, Call Again and Royal Songster, while Kaokaoroa, Zippor and Royal Duke were also seen out. fhe fast work was done on number, oue track, which was a trifle dead. The most pleasing performance of the morning was that of Zarene, who covered half a mile, wied out, in 51sec, hitting out freely. The Chief Ruler mare looks greatly improved as a result of her outing at Marton. Another gallop that must have pleased was that to the credit of Just an Idea, who had a. lightweight in the saddle. He covered the last six furlongs of a round in hnin 19sec, the last five taking Imin 4sec. He went very fast over the middle section, running from the five to the three in 25sec. Just an Idea was not seen out at Marton, but it is expected that he will take his place in the field for the Empire Handicap on Thursday.
